Tom Nguyen leads Vortex Manufacturing with a commitment to American craftsmanship, precision, and integrity. A Vietnamese refugee who arrived in the U.S. in 1979, Tom’s early experiences shaped the resilience and work ethic that define his leadership today.
Before joining Vortex, Tom built a deep technical foundation in the power and petrochemical industries, working with Engineering Design Group International, Woodgroup Power Solutions, and Terac Controls Inc. His hands‑on expertise in power distribution centers, variable frequency drive skids, and motor control systems continues to influence Vortex’s engineering‑driven approach.
Tom was brought to Vortex as the Operations Manager to develop and lead a new manufacturing division, strengthening quality systems, formalizing procedures, and investing in workforce training. Under his direction, the company earned a reputation for reliability, precision, and exceptional customer service.
In 2023, Tom became CEO and owner, reaffirming Vortex Manufacturing’s mission: build high‑quality, American‑made products in Tulsa, with craftsmanship that reflects the opportunity his family fought to find. Today, he leads the company with the same determination that carried him across an ocean — ensuring every product that leaves the shop is built with pride, purpose, and uncompromising quality.

Ben oversees Vortex Manufacturing’s finance, accounting, tax, human resource, and planning functions. He brings nearly two decades of experience in corporate finance, accounting, and auditing, with deep expertise in the energy sector. Before entering private industry, Ben served honorably as an electronics technician in the United States Air Force. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, an MBA, and is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Derrick is the true definition of a ground-up employee. He has been with Vortex Manufacturing since the company first opened its doors and brings 17 years of manufacturing experience to the team. His background includes 12 years of welding experience, along with 5 years in quality control and management.
Derrick is a well-rounded professional who understands what it takes to get the job done efficiently, correctly, and with excellence. He has a strong ability to manage workflow while maintaining high standards throughout the production process.
Currently serving as Vortex Manufacturing’s Quality Control and Hiring Manager, Derrick plays a vital role in upholding the company’s reputation for excellence. Vortex Manufacturing takes great pride in the quality of its products, and Derrick ensures that quality remains a top priority in every project.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Derrick is a devoted family man, blessed with three children and 18 years of marriage to his wife, Kimberly. Rooted in humility and integrity, Derrick is committed to making sure every product not only meets but exceeds customer expectations.

Wayne is a lifelong Oklahoma craftsman with 28 years of welding experience and a deep-rooted passion for hard work and family. A 1998 graduate of Tri County Technology Center in Bartlesville, Wayne built his career following in the footsteps of his father, who dedicated more than 40 years to the welding trade. Today, the family legacy continues as Wayne proudly works alongside his son in the welding industry.
Beyond his profession, Wayne is a devoted family man. He and his wife have shared 26 years of marriage while raising four children and welcoming three grandchildren. Known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment to family, Wayne represents generations of skilled tradesmen whose craftsmanship and values continue to shape their communities.

Fletcher is a pedigreed Basset Hound with three years of inspection experience, specializing in workstation and break room snack detection. Her commitment to morale and crumb-level quality control makes her an indispensable member of the team.
